SATURDAY 4/15/23 1 - 4 p.m.
Three classic regions of France will be highlighted this Saturday afternoon. Stop by and try some great alternatives to Sancerre also made from the ever popular Sauvignon Blancs of the Loire. We’re also going to be pouring two reds from the Medoc region of Bordeaux. We’ll also be tasting some great champagne at a reasonable price.
Eric Maître Champagne Brut Tradition: This elegant Blanc de Noir is aromatic and effervescent with fine, small bubbles, and is fermented on the lees. It’s nuanced with minerality and hints of fruit on the palate. Great as an aperitif or served with dinner. Compared to the prices of some of the mass market champagnes, this one is a true bargain.
Lucien Riambault Menetou-Salon Les Chamblins: Menetou-Salon produces wines similar to Sancerre which it borders to the northwest, having a nearly identical terroir. This wine comes from a single plot and has a complex range of flavors such as orange, black currant, fresh apples, mint, honey, and spices. Its pale yellow color and fine floral and refreshing taste makes it a great alternative to Sancerre.
Domaine de La Pagerie Reuilly: 100 % Sauviginon Blanc, similar to other well known appellations in the region such as Quincy, Sancerre, and Pouilly-Fumé. Straw color and a predominant minerality. This wine goes great with shellfish or goat cheese.
Chateau Forcas Dupré Listrac-Médoc: Made from a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The tasting style is one of ripe fruit, blackberry, cigar box and asphalt. A suave and balanced combination of tannin and plumby fruits. Can withstand aging for at least 10 more years.
Chateau Réal: This wine is typical of the Haut-Medoc, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Plump and juicy, yet balanced by strong tannins, this dignified red has a long finish.
